LAN/WAN/MAN Design and Engineering

Federal Data Systems specializes in engineering highly available networks using technologies such as Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), IP Security (IPsec), WiMax, Microwave, 802.11a/b/g/n, SenForce, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), High speed (≥10Gbps) backbones, and Type-1 encryption. Our engineers have experience with a variety of vendors including Cisco, Juniper and Extreme.

Storage Area Networking (SAN) / Continuity of Operations (COOP)

FDS provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support services 24x7, 365 days a year for many of our customers. Standard SAN service offerings include data storage; data replication; automated fail-over; monitoring, management, performance analysis, troubleshooting, systems administration functions, and logistical support. These capabilities assist our customers in satisfying Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Continuity of Business (COB) objectives for mission-essential functions.

FDS SAN engineers specialize in engineering highly available storage area networks and disaster recovery systems. Our engineers have extensive experience in iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs using Cisco and Brocade switch technology. Our staff has experience in engineering highly available synchronous and asynchronously replicated storage systems using multiple vendors including EMC, Hitachi, Data Domain and Network Appliance. Our clustering engineers have experience engineering both local and geo-clustering solutions using Veritas cluster server and Microsoft cluster server. FDS’ Backup Recovery and Archive (BURA) engineers have experience in engineering class leading backup and recovery systems from all of the leading vendors including Symantec Netbackup, EMC Networker, Commvault and DataDomain.

Information Security Engineering

FDS provides security control design, review and verification for our customers’ information systems. In this capacity, FDS manages the complete lifecycle of program control creation and implementation. FDS personnel are currently responsible for system administration for server appliances and IDS equipment including server and appliance installation, monitoring, maintenance, log analysis, upgrades and trouble-shooting.

FDS provides technical security experts to our customers.. These experts are responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of controls and procedures which safeguard PII data within the mission critical Federal environments. FDS security engineers are experts in Arcserve and MacAfee IDS solutions.

Software Engineering

FDS provides software development services in two unique disciplines: Enterprise Information Portals, and Database Management Services.

Federal Data Systems (FDS) provides Federal organizations with information professionals that design and deploy Enterprise Information Portals (EIPs). Portal frameworks are based on multiple J2EE development products. Our solutions include chat, real-time translation, collaboration (including document sharing, calendaring, threaded discussions, and project management interfaces), MS Exchange integration, and RSS feeds into the EIP.

FDS information portal experts specialize in portal development using industry-leading platforms JBoss, SharePoint, and Weblogic. Our software engineers have expertise in JAVA, Javascript, Perl, Python, C++ and many other development environments. FDS personnel also have extensive experience in database integration and programming services using SQL, Oracle and SQL server.
